Pelvic floor assessment
|In females the pelvic floor muscles play an important role in maintaining continence.
Together with urodynamic measurements, anorectal manometry is one of the few ways of making an objective assessment of the strength of pelvic floor muscles.
In the management of e.g. stress incontinence Biofeedback can be used for training of the patient’s pelvic floor muscles. Biofeedback gives a visual representation of a change in a measured channel. Biofeedback can react on a pressure channel, a flow channel, an EMG channel or a combination of two channels.
