Dr. Sudip K. Ghosh, PhD is Research Assistant Professor at the Division of Digestive Diseases at the University of Cincinnati and Director of the Gastrointestinal Motility Laboratory at the University Hospital.
Goal
After the completion of this training module, participants shall be able to:
- Understand anorectal anatomy and the usefulness of HRAM in IAS and EAS localization
- Name and understand the basic anorectal studies and identify protocols to be followed in setting up each study
- Analyze and compare standard study results versus high resolution Clouse Contour plots
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of HRAM versus standard ARM manometry procedures

The highlights of this training module are:
- A thorough discussion of catheter selection and options
- Patient preparation for the procedure will be discussed
- A standard protocol for assessing anorectal function will be presented
- The importance of balloon pressure and anorectal pressure sensors will be discussed
- New methods of data visualization, like color contour plots, shall be reviewed
