High Resolution Impedance Manometry can be performed with solid state or water perfused catheters.
Water perfused catheters can be used because distilled water from the perfusion system has a very high impedance value and does not conduct electricity.
The small amount of distilled water will not interfere with the bolus swallow which will be detected with the impedance rings. |
